Ugh… It hurts…
Christina Steele woke up feeling like she had been hit by a truck. As she turned over, she found herself face-to-face with a handsome, yet cold-looking man. Shocked, her heart skipped a beat. She quickly recalled the events of the previous night.
Oh, that’s right… Someone drugged me at the graduation party last night, and I accidentally ended up in this man’s room while trying to escape…
The man was still fast asleep. Christina clenched her teeth and endured the intense pain as she carefully got out of bed. The room was in disarray, and her clothes were torn to shreds. She let out a helpless sigh as she slipped into the man’s white shirt and quietly exited the room.
Meanwhile, Nathaniel Hadley woke up shortly after Christina left the hotel room. He glanced around, unable to find her anywhere. The state of the room and the bloodstain on the bedsheet confirmed that he had spent the night with a woman. This was a rare occurrence for Nathaniel, who had become allergic to women after an accident five years ago. People spread nasty rumors about his inability to carry on the family lineage because no woman could get close to him.
Last night’s encounter with the unknown woman felt like a miracle to him. Without hesitation, he reached for his phone and called his assistant, Sebastian Taggart, to come over immediately.
Sebastian arrived in Nathaniel’s hotel room shortly after the call.
“Check the surveillance footage. I want to know who the woman in my room was last night,” Nathaniel ordered, getting dressed.
“Woman?” Sebastian’s shock was evident in his voice. “Is there a problem?”
Sebastian froze. After all, Nathaniel was allergic to women. He would break out in a rash if he got too close. The three years of overseas treatment hadn’t helped, so how could he have slept with a woman right after coming back?
Sebastian didn’t dare doubt Nathaniel’s words. “N-No problem at all!” he stammered, ready to carry out his task. However, Nathaniel called him back.
“Tell Mr. Lozowski, the lawyer, to come to my office,” Nathaniel added before Sebastian left.
It was almost nine o’clock when Christina returned to Scenic Garden Manor. She paused when she saw the housekeepers cleaning the courtyard.
Now that I’ve spent the night outside, they’re going to gossip and spread rumors about me!
The butler approached her. “Ah, you’re back!”
“Yeah,” Christina responded.
“What happened to your clothes?” the butler inquired.
Christina tugged at the dress shirt she was wearing. “Oh, I just bought it. It’s the latest design. Do you think it suits me?”
As long as I appear confident, the butler won’t dare question me too much!
Though the dress shirt was a bit big, it covered Christina’s thighs, revealing only her slender calves. The butler nodded without saying anything further.
Christina straightened up and made her way to the second floor. As soon as she entered her room, the butler retreated to a quiet corner.
In the bedroom bathroom, Christina immersed herself in the bathtub to ease her pain.
“Ugh! This makes me so mad!” she muttered, closing her eyes and reflecting on the events of the previous night.
I will find out who drugged me and make them pay!
However, when Christina thought about the man she woke up beside, she reconsidered.
No, I can’t blow this out of proportion. My husband, whom I’ve never met despite being married to for three years, will be returning from overseas soon. It will only cause problems if he finds out that I’ve been sleeping with other men and confronts my family about it.
Christina was interrupted by a knock at the door. “Ma’am.”
“Yes?” Christina responded.
“Mr. Hadley’s—” the butler began.
“He’s back?” Christina tensed up at the news.
So soon?
